Level I is for children ages 3 – 6
Course Description
The Level I Course lays the foundation of the theory and practices of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for all three levels of CGS. This 90+ hour course concretely prepares the adult to work, to listen to the Word of God and to learn with and from children.
- To explore the methodology and guiding principles of the Catechesis of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for the 3 – 6 year-old child.
- To explore the religious nature and the spiritual needs and capacities of the child.
- To meditate on the mystery of the incarnation and the paschal mystery through the scriptural accounts shared with children.
- To offer guidelines and assistance in preparing an atrium, writing album pages and making materials.
- To deepen the participant’s ability to observe and learn from children, and to discuss the challenges of engaging the child in the work of Level I.
- 100% attendance and engagement in group discussions, prayer and in simulated presentations using the materials.
- 10 hours minimum observation in a level 1 atrium and/or Montessori casa.
- Submit a minimum of 10 completed personal album pages from 5 different subjects.
- Complete all mandatory readings prior to the course.
