Loss & Grief Support Group

When: Tuesdays at 7 p.m (Ongoing)
Where: Our Lady of the Assumption, Port Coquitlam
Cost: Free

Has someone you loved died? Are you struggling with grief?  Feeling lost, overwhelmed? The death of a loved one can be one of the hardest things that we experience in our lives. This group experience provides a safe, supportive, confidential place to talk, cry and express feelings. You are not alone.

Horizons of Hope

When: Saturday, September 21, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: St. Joseph’s Parish, Langley
Cost: $20, lunch included

Created by the Canadian Catholic Conference of Bishops, this very popular one-day session will be offered once again this fall. This toolkit aims to help equip parishioners surrounding the topic of death, dying, palliative care, and suffering.

Bereavement Support Training

When: Wednesdays, October 2-30, 7–9 p.m.
Where: All Saints Parish, Coquitlam

This six-week training course is aimed at those who want to start a bereavement ministry in their parish. The course sessions include topics on what grief is, how to actively listen, facilitating a bereavement ministry/group, resources for those grieving, and understanding more about grief.

Spiritual Care Training

When: Thursdays, October 3 to November 21, 1:30–4 p.m.
Where: Online

This eight-week training course teaches you how to make yourself more available to seniors and others who can benefit from your genuine concern and presence in their lives.

Changing the Debate on Euthanasia (MAiD) in Canada

When: Friday, October 18, 7– 9 p.m.
Where: St. Nicholas Parish Centre, Langley

Alex Schadenberg, the executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, will give a presentation on the overall situation regarding euthanasia (MAiD) in Canada in 2024.

The statistics are frightening. Alex will discuss how far we have come in a few short years to making euthanasia routine and acceptable, illustrating his presentation with real-life stories.  He will also touch on the current court cases including St. Paul’s Hospital.
