There are 11 Archdiocesan & National annual collections taken up in the Archdiocese. Parishes should advertise and promote these special collections in the week prior to the collection so that the parishioners know the purpose and are encouraged to be generous.
- St. Joseph’s Society (Archdiocesan) – This collection supports priests in their retirement years. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. This collection takes place on the first (1st) Sunday of Lent.
- Share Lent (National) – This collection helps the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP) fight poverty in third-world countries and foster international justice. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. This collection takes place on the fifth (5th) Sunday of Lent.
- Holy Land (National) – This collection supports Christians in the Holy Land. The fund collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. This collection takes place on Good Friday.
- Work of Vocations (Archdiocesan) – This collection supports seminarians studying to become priests for the Archdiocese of Vancouver. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. This collection takes place on the fourth (4th) Sunday of Easter.
- Pope’s Pastoral Works (National) – This collection supports the Holy Father in administering the Holy See and serving the Universal Church. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. This collection takes place on the sixth (6th) Sunday of Easter.
- Catholic Missions in Canada (National) – This collection provides support for over 600 remote and poor mission communities across Canada. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. This collection takes place on the first (1st) Sunday in June.
- Needs of the Church in Canada (National) – This collection supports the work of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. The collection takes place on the last Sunday in September.
- Evangelization of the Nations (National) – This collection helps the Society for the Propagation of the Faith assist missionary bishops and dioceses throughout the world. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. The collection takes place in October on World Mission Sunday.
- Peter’s Pence (National) – Peter's Pence is the name given to the financial support offered by the faithful to the Holy Father as a sign of their sharing in the concern of the Successor of Peter for the many different needs of the Universal Church and for the relief of those most in need. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. The collection takes place on the first (1st) Sunday in November.
- Home Missions (Archdiocesan) – This collection supports Archdiocesan programs. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. The collection takes place on the third (3rd) Sunday in November.
- Youth Ministry (Archdiocesan) – This collection supports Archdiocesan youth programs. Parishes that have youth programs receive a rebate for 50% of the collection. The funds collected are to be remitted to the Archdiocese. The collection takes place on the first (1st) Sunday in December.
As soon as possible, all collections, unless specified, are to be counted and deposited in the parish bank account. The amounts collected, both envelope and loose, shall be posted in the accounting records in individual income accounts, one for each collection. The parish will then write a cheque payable to The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Vancouver for the equivalent amount. The parish must indicate either on the cheque (in the memo field) or on a separate memo the collection(s) and amount(s) to which the cheque applies. This cheque shall be posted in the accounting system in individual expense accounts, one for each collection. At the end of the fiscal year, the amounts in the Archdiocesan Collections income account and expense account are to be the same.
