This position is responsible for the general maintenance and custodial duties to maintain parish facilities and surroundings as clean, safe, and attractive locations for parishioners, priests, and visitors.  Position will also include physical work such as shoveling snow, setting up hall for events, and some seasonal landscaping.

Responsibilities:

 The employee is responsible for such duties as: 

• Attend to minor repairs and projects as requested by the pastor;
• Provide preventative maintenance needs as noted on Depreciation Report; 
• Report any maintenance problems to the pastor;
• Assist in maintaining a maintenance and cleaning log;
• Ensure grounds are safe during inclement weather by salting and / or removal of snow;
• Maintain the parish grounds as needed eg. weeding, raking, power washing, etc…;
• Clean the portables and halls, including kitchens, and washrooms as needed; 
• Ensure that garbage and recyclables are properly disposed of;
• Ensure front of office and church are kept clean and maintained;
• Clean the church weekly (vestibule, sanctuary, washrooms, etc…);
• Set up and take down of tables/chairs for events as needed;
• Spot clean any areas mid-week that are needed;
• Cooperate with outside tradesmen and companies who work on the property; 
• Complete other tasks as required based on the needs of the parish and as directed by the Pastor. 

Position Requirements:

• Demonstrate the ability to carry out general and regular building maintenance and cleaning; 
• Collaborate with office manger, parish staff, and volunteers;
• Be proactive and have the ability to multitask;
• Have a valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle;
• Be available to attend to after hour emergencies;
• Have the ability to work independently but collaboratively and with minimum supervision;
• Have good interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Be able to meet the physical demands of this position;
• Have previous experience in a similar role.

Conditions of Employment:

• Must meet the Safe Environment requirements and protocols prior to start of employment. 

Working Environment: 

• This is a fulltime position (30 hours); the working hours will be determined by the Pastor and the needs of the Parish;
• Work will be conducted in all weather conditions;
• Availability for weekdays and weekends as required;
• Opportunity to work in a faith-based environment;
• ($25 per hour plus benefits).
