Administrative & Ministry Assistant

St. Anthony of Padua Parish (Vancouver) has an immediate need for an Administrative & Ministry Assistant (AMA), to serve God, above all, and His people by proficiently performing administrative duties and supporting mission focused ministry activities.

An important frontline representative of the parish, the AMA demonstrates charity, professionalism and courtesy in all personal, verbal and written communication with parishioners, ministry members, volunteers, and the general public. The AMA's primary administrative responsibility is processing weekly collections and donations to the parish, and accounting related functions, such as producing reports and issuing tax receipts.  The AMA also supports and implements sacramental and ministerial activities, including the Works of Mercy ministry, pro-life and any future initiatives that furthers the mission of the parish.  Reporting to the managing director the AMA works collaboratively with ministry leaders, key volunteers and other staff members of the Parish Office.

 Requirements:

  • Commitment to Catholic doctrine and practice.
  • Desire for holiness and passion for evangelization.
  • Letter of recommendation from Pastor of personal parish.
  • Successful Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Safe Environment screening.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office productivity software, Google apps (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, etc.) and related technologies.
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills. 
  • Strong organizational, planning, multi-tasking and problem solving skills.
  • An understanding of the importance of safeguarding confidential information inherent in church records, databases, discussions, and meetings.

 Education, Training and Experience:

  • Formal training in secretarial and/or office administration.
  • 3 years’ work experience in an office environment, in an administrative capacity.
  • Experience working with Paritek or similar parish management software, a definite asset.
  • Volunteer or work experience within a parish.
  • Experience working with a diverse community.

Hourly rate: $20-$24
