Arise 2024 Team

We are looking for young adults and youth (currently in Grade 11 or 12) to be leaders for the 2024 Retreat. Do you have a heart for service and ministry with and for youth in Grades 8 and 9 this summer? If so, read on!

“Arise” is a five-day overnight retreat for youth born in  2009 & 2010 and takes place at Camp Jubilee in the last week of August.

We are looking for team members to plan, organize and implement Arise and will be given training in program planning, leadership skills, and most importantly, how to be missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.

Leadership Roles


Leadership Team Member

12-14 positions available

You will foster an environment of faith, love, and service to the participants by exhibiting a faith-filled life, good Christian values, and strong leadership abilities.

  1. To model for participants good Christian values: 
    • honesty
    • love
    • respectfulness
    • dependability
    • sensitivity, unselfishness
    • kindness, friendliness
    • self-discipline, moderation
    • chastity

  2. To prepare and to lead activities with youth:
    • Attend all mandatory meetings leading up to and including at the retreat
    • be open to learning new practical leadership skills and improving skills you already have
    • choose topic / activities
    • do background reading / prep
    • prepare outline, presentation, and relevant materials for presentation
    • rehearse presentations / activities on pre-program all-day prep meetings
    • lead large and small group games and activities
    • share your personal testimony
    • evaluate presentations / activities and recommend improvements

  3. To be an ambassador, interpreter, and mentor for youth:
    • keep Program Director, co-leaders, and M&O staff informed about successes of and challenges to youth on daily basis; bring concerns to leader meetings; draw attention to strengths and talents and growth of youth
    • help youth to understand camp rules and activities; help other leaders to understand individual youth in your care
    • share your personal gifts, skills, understanding, and stories with youth in your care

  4. Be accountable to the Program Director and designated staff:
    • follow-through on assigned duties; report errors, omissions, challenges
    • report daily on “how it’s going” with youth and activities throughout the retreat days
    • seek direction as needed
    • be flexible – be willing to change program activities / schedules if the leadership team deems it necessary
  • Must be available to attend one-two meetings a month (or as needed) from late-February until retreat week
  • Rehearsing presentations/activities on pre-program prep days
  • Evaluating presentations/activities and recommend improvements

Preference will be given to applicants who are born in the years 2000 – 2006. You must be in at least  Grade 11 or 12 (current school year) to apply for the Arise Retreat Team.

For 2024, there is no limit to the number of past years served on a summer leadership team. If you have served for any number of years in the past, please feel free to apply!

If your application is complete and you meet our initial criteria, we will email you an invitation for an interview taking place sometime in the last week of February to the first week of March.

Team Training:

  • Approximately 1-2 meetings per month leading up to the retreat week. The meetings will take place at parishes around the Archdiocese, with additional commitments (retreats, planning meetings).
  • Will be either an evening or weekend meeting. Attendance at meetings is mandatory.

Team Coordinator

2 positions

We are also looking for Team Coordinators for the Arise Retreat Leadership Team. You must be born in 2005 or earlier to apply for this position. (Some exceptions may be applied and are at the discretion of the Ministries and Outreach Office Coordinator.)

  • Coordinating the Leadership Team members
  • Reporting to the Ministries and Outreach (M&O) Office Coordinator
  • Developing, with the support of the M&O Office Coordinator, a training program to include leadership skills and missionary discipleship training and formation.
  • Overseeing the implementation of the retreat program at Camp Jubilee

A stipend will be given to each team coordinator for their efforts in the implementation of the training and the retreat itself.
