(Does it frustrate you? Confuse you? Intimidate you?)

St. James Parish, Abbotsford, has started a Civic Affairs committee. Its goal is to educate and empower our community to actively and effectively engage in civic affairs from a Christian perspective. It is not a partisan body, rather one to support greater involvement of our community in civic affairs.

We’ve planned a series of presentations over the next year. We’ll begin on April 9 at 7-8:30 p.m. in the church foyer with a “Politics for Dummies” talk that’ll focus on the basic democratic mechanisms that are available to each one of us as citizens. Guest speaker will be Warren Smith, the driving force behind the annual lawyer’s “Red” Mass at the Cathedral. Consider it a refresher course in democracy! Please join us. If you have questions, feel free to contact Jim Hargrave at 778-344-4692.
