Message from Therapist
Before I became a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I was first a client! Counselling has been an indispensable part of my life journey. The strength I have drawn from counselling inspired me to become a counsellor myself.
As a mother of two teenagers, working as a teacher for over 18 years, and having experienced much love and loss along the way, I know intimately the trials and tribulations life can bring. I am grateful for the tremendous growth I have gained through these experiences. The importance of being in-relationship with others to successfully navigate the inevitable challenges of life cannot be overemphasized. It is through healthy, interpersonal relationships that we grow and heal.
Sometimes we don't always have access to those healthy relationships in our everyday lives to facilitate the growth and healing we were created for. There is no better antidote for life's trials than a personal connection with someone who cares for and supports you along the way. This is where counselling comes in! We were not created to navigate life alone and you don't have to!
If it feels scary starting counselling, you're not alone. It takes courage to be vulnerable with another human and can feel like a big risk. In the safe and confidential environment of counselling, you will experience a nonjudgmental relationship where you are accepted just as you are!

Counselling Methods Used
I approach each client through the lens of the Catholic Christian view of the person which emphasizes each person as made in the image and likeness of God. Each of us retains a unique dignity and goodness at the core of who we are. Through a holistic approach (physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual), I integrate multiple modalities such as Attachment Theory (AT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in collaboration with my client to increase flourishing in their life.
Inclusion of this counsellor on our website does not imply that the RCAV has endorsed the efficacy of a treatment, therapy practiced, or any other service offered by the private professional counsellor. We have verified that the counsellors on our website are registered professional counsellors. Each counsellor has informed us that they are Catholic or a practicing Christian from another tradition and will support clients that want to adhere to the Church’s teachings in the area of life, marriage and family. We cannot guarantee that you will be satisfied with each therapist, as there are many factors that influence therapeutic compatibility. It is solely your responsibility to find out whether a therapist possesses the qualities that are most important to you. We suggest that you take the time to ask the therapist any questions that you might have, to ensure both of you are comfortable and are a good fit with the therapist.
