Message from Therapist
I provide my dear clients with a warm, nurturing, non-judgmental space where we can, together, explore your inner world and the problems in your life. Your sadness, anger, anxiety, disgust, jealousy, shame, and joy are all welcome and I hold them with you. I may ask you to connect with your body and emotions, they hold a lot of answers and wisdom that sometimes our minds aren’t privy to. Together, we will uncover the root of your problems and find a way out.
Bio
Jules Ku-Lea, BA, MCP, CCC, is a registered counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Her previous experience includes 15 years in the mental health and wellness field. Prior to becoming a therapist, Jules worked as a mental health worker on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside helping clients with addiction and severe mental illness. She completed her counselling internship at Royal Columbian Hospital, working with mothers who were experiencing antenatal and postpartum anxiety and depression. Jules has been serving her community as a psychotherapist since 2016.
Jules specializes in helping clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and are feeling stuck. She works with parents to help navigate the murky waters of pregnancy and parenthood. Jules has three young children; and understands the joy, gratification, and heart-melting moments of parenting, as well as the exhaustion, frustration, and pull-your-hair-out moments. She also works with Christian clients who are looking for faith to be part of their healing.
Jules uses evidence-based practices to nudge her clients in the right direction, including Compassionate Inquiry, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Mindfulness-Based interventions. Jules’ primary focus in session is building a therapeutic relationship— where the client feels accepted, safe, and free to explore their inner world. Together, we learn tools to manage the unpleasant symptoms of anxiety, depression, and life; and uncover the layers to find the root cause. Through our sessions, the client will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and learn tools they can use for a lifetime. Jules is dedicated to helping her clients thrive.

Inclusion of this counsellor on our website does not imply that the RCAV has endorsed the efficacy of a treatment, therapy practiced, or any other service offered by the private professional counsellor. We have verified that the counsellors on our website are registered professional counsellors. Each counsellor has informed us that they are Catholic or a practicing Christian from another tradition and will support clients that want to adhere to the Church’s teachings in the area of life, marriage and family. We cannot guarantee that you will be satisfied with each therapist, as there are many factors that influence therapeutic compatibility. It is solely your responsibility to find out whether a therapist possesses the qualities that are most important to you. We suggest that you take the time to ask the therapist any questions that you might have, to ensure both of you are comfortable and are a good fit with the therapist.
