Overview

This policy describes the types of information The Archdiocese of Vancouver (“RCAV”, “Company” or “We”) may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit and utilize the Tilma software available through our websites (collectively, our “Websites“). This includes our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information and the basis for doing so.

This policy applies to information we collect on our Websites, in email, text and other electronic messages between you and these Websites.

We may revise and update this Privacy Policy from time to time at our sole discretion. All changes are effective immediately when we post them, and apply to all access to and use of the Website thereafter.

Your continued use of the Website following the posting of the revised Privacy Policy means that you accept and agree to the changes. You are expected to check this page from time to time so you are aware of any changes.

The Archdiocese of Vancouver collects information from you when you register for a personal profile, make a donation, subscribe to a newsletter, fill out a form or enter information on our site. We use this information for analytics, user database management, managing support and contact requests, hosting, and infrastructure monitoring.

We process data:

  • to personalize your experience and to allow the application to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested;
  • in order to provide the services and fulfill our obligations pursuant to the Terms of Service. For example, we cannot provide our services without an email address to sign into your account;
  • where necessary to comply with a legal obligation, a court order, or to exercise and defend legal claims;
  • to protect your vital interests, or those of others, such as in the case of emergencies;
  • where you provide consent (for example, to join email mailing lists);
  • providing a quality service and in improving that service;
  • ensuring the services are secure;
  • protection against fraud, spam and abuse;
  • understanding how clients and visitors interact with our websites and services, so that we can continuously improve the experience and effectiveness of doing so.

Protection of your information

Tilma websites are scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to our site as safe as possible.

Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.

A variety of security measures have been implemented when a user makes a donation, enters, submits, or accesses their information to maintain the safety of your personal information.

All credit card transactions are processed through a gateway provider and card data/information is not stored or processed on Tilma servers.

Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of text sent to your browser when you visit a site. They serve a variety of functions, like enabling the Application to remember certain information you provided as you navigate between pages on the Services. Cookies are used for the following purposes:

Cookies are also used to help prevent fraudulent use of login credentials.

Performance And Analytics. Cookies help The Archdiocese of Vancouver analyze how the Services are being accessed and used, and enable performance tracking of the Services. For example, cookies are used to determine if you viewed a page or opened an email. This helps to provide you with information that you find interesting. Cookies are used to provide insights about how users access our sites, such as page views, conversion rates, device information, visitor IP addresses and referral sites.

Opting out of Cookies

There are a number ways to limit the cookies that your browser accepts or limit the way in which they’re used.

One way to limit cookies is by opting out of third party cookies/advertising networks, like Google Analytics and the Digital Advertising Alliance. If you are in Canada or the EU you can use the DAAC’s youradchoices.ca, or EDAA’s youronlinechoices.eu respectively. Some people use what are called “Ad Blockers” to limit advertising/tracking.

Another way of limiting cookies is by controlling cookies in your web browser’s settings. Opting out of cookies using this method will limit your ability to use our Services. The Application currently doesn’t respond to DNT:1 signals from browsers visiting our Services.

Data Retention

To comply with legal and financial obligations, we will retain user data for up to seven years after a user profile becomes inactive. If you would like your account to be deleted before then, please contact our support team.
