The Catechism in a Year
Ascension Press is hosting a podcast entitled The Catechism in a Year, in which listeners will hear the whole catechism in a year along with commentary from Fr. Mike Schmitz.
We encourage you to help your parishioners access this great resource and use it to fuel faith formation at your parish. Using the areas of accompaniment, this podcast is best suited for people in the sanctuary who want to grow deeper in their faith, or are in the pews who are curious about learning more.

Ideas on How to Bring This Resource to Your Parish
Weekly Coffee Hour (Community)
Encourage parishioners through the bulletin and announcements at Mass to listen to the podcast. Host a weekly coffee hour where parishioners can come and meet to discuss the episodes they have heard.
This can be done with intentional trained table hosts who have experience guiding conversations or, for a less structured option, with printed questions to facilitate conversation on each table. For small group training, please contact Eric Chow of Proclaim at [email protected].
Pastor Lecture Series (Knowledge of the Faith)
Using the podcast’s reading plan, schedule bi-weekly or monthly gatherings in the parish hall with a talk either summarizing a particular section or focusing on a topic of interest. This can easily be adapted with small group discussions or social time.

Encourage a particular group of leaders in your parish (eg. PREP catechists, Parish Council, parish leadership team, etc.) to listen to the Catechism in a Year together. Schedule regular check-ins for group conversation, Q&A and sharing. Use this resource to get to know and form your leaders.
