Youth Minister

Saints Joachim & Ann Parish is in need of a part-time Youth Minister (YM) that will assist families in raising their teens in the Catholic faith, foster in the youth a personal relationship with Jesus, and draw teens into the life, mission and ministry of the Church.  The YM will report to the Pastor who is assisted by the Parish Youth Ministry Committee.  The contract will run from September to June.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to Catholic doctrine and practice
  • Desire for holiness and passion for young people and evangelization
  • Letter of recommendation from Pastor of home parish
  • Successful Police Check with Vulnerable Sector and Safe Environment screening.

Skills:

  • Good organizational skills
  • Good communication skills towards youth and adults
  • Adept at computer technology and social media

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Parish Youth Ministry Committee to develop a vision of youth ministry for the parish
  • Recruit and train volunteers for ministry
  • Implement programmes and activities with the assistance of volunteers
  • Attend/participate in archdiocesan youth ministry events as appropriate
  • Collaborate with other parish groups as necessary
  • Communicate and collaborate with school principals, chaplains, teachers, and other youth ministers in the area as appropriate
  • Make pastoral visits to schools as appropriate

Education and Experience:

  • Formal formation in the Catholic faith beyond secondary school
  • Experience in youth ministry leadership or on a ministry team

 


Compensation: Hourly range $22-$25.00 Commensurate with education and experience
