Course Descriptions

Jewish – Christian Dialogue

Course No: F801
Presenters: Fr. Martin Moser, OMI & Deacom Hilmar Pabel
Full-Day – 10:00am – 4:00pm

Catholics need to deepen their love for Jews and Judaism. What does it mean for the Catholic Church to dialogue with Judaism? What do Christians hold in common with Jewish people? Explore the past and current on-going dialogue on the international and local level.  Learn how to grow in mutual understanding with “the people of Covenant,” never revoked by God, as St. John Paul II called our Jewish sisters and brothers.  At his visit to the Great Synagogue of Rome, he said:  “You are our dearly beloved brothers and in a certain way, it could be said that you are our elder brothers.”

Fr. Martin Moser, O.M.I. is pastor of St. Peter’s Parish in New Westminster, a member of the RCAV Commission for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations, and Professor of Theology at St. Mark’s College. Deacon Hilmar Pabel is a Professor of History at Simon Fraser University and a Permanent Deacon who serves on the Commission for Ecumenism and Interfaith Relations.
