Job Description 

The Coordinator for the Promotion of Human Dignity serves as a key leader in advancing the Catholic Church’s mission to uphold and protect the inherent dignity of every human person from conception to their natural end. Under the guidance of the Associate Director, the Coordinator mobilizes the faithful, builds strategic partnerships, provides awareness, education, and advocates for the accompaniment of those whose dignity is at risk.

Responsibilities 

Support of Parishes

  • Build and support Parish-based human dignity ministry programs throughout the Archdiocese;
  • Mobilize prayer in the Archdiocese and in parish communities and work with the Communications Office to increase awareness;
  • Maintain and renew current programs including March for Life, Pro-Life monthly masses and 40 Days for Life;
  • Provide formation to parish staff, leaders and volunteers, in accompaniment and pastoral care for those whose human dignity is at risk; 
  • Train volunteers to facilitate Bereavement workshops at parishes.

Education and Advocacy

  • Organizes talks on the promotion of life from conception to its natural end;
  • Develop & Coordinate human dignity ministry events, training, and volunteer opportunities at the Archdiocesan level;
  • Oversee and coordinate the development of a Life Expo for parishes; 
  • Raise awareness, working with the Communications Office, to provide spiritual & educational resources that foster understanding around Church teaching regarding human dignity;
  • Coordinate with strategic partners to provide education on natural family planning.

Health

  • Stay up to date with relevant changes to laws and medical practices as they relate to human dignity ministry;
  • Work collaboratively with those in Catholic healthcare to promote holistic care.

Other

  • Manage the Pro-life Sunday grant applications, evaluations and distribution;
  • Build and maintain relationships with other organizations, leaders, and government agencies, seeking opportunity for collaboration.

Desired Skills and Experience

Experience, education and training:

  • At least three (3) years of professional experience working in advocacy, pastoral ministry, or a related field;
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in theology, healthcare, social work, public policy, or a related field is an asset;
  • Professional experience planning and executing projects.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Proven track record of leading teams, particularly in a ministry setting;
  • Ability to influence others and create a relationship of mentorship and coaching;
  • Ability to work well with clergy, lay leaders, and vulnerable populations;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to listen well, manage conflict, and seek input from various stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Must be compliant with all applicable personnel policies.

Working Environment 

  • This is a full-time position. Core office hours are 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM;
  • It is understood that there may be evening and weekend work in order to fulfill the needs of this position;
  • Comprehensive group extended health and dental benefits and pension plan offered.
  • Salary range: $53,000 – $65,000
