As social media and internet use squeeze our opportunities to practice face to face communication, how can we listen in ways that encourage successful family dialogue? How can we help family members actively give their full attention to a speaker, notice body cues, words and feelings?
In this workshop, we will:
- Discover the complex process of listening versus hearing
- Identify self care strategies required to be an active listener
- Practice some of the fundamental components of listening including; matching, mirroring, paraphrasing, asking the right questions and managing your feelings
- Practice listening scenarios
Dr. Emi Garzitto (PhD, MA, B.Ed) has been developing, promoting and implementing positive communication practices and conflict support skills for over 16 years. Her consulting practice (Creative Edge Consulting) has brought her conflict support practices and workshops to both corporate and educational settings in Canada, the United States and Mexico, and she currently facilitates workshops for parents, children and work communities.
