In the Spirit of Reconciliation (Film)
How do we forgive? How do we find healing? In the aftermath of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, how do residential school survivors and the Catholic Church move forward together? There is only one way forward: In the Spirit of Reconciliation… The documentary portrays tales of sorrow, hardship — and ultimately forgiveness.
Speaker: Father Larry Lynn
Father Larry Lynn was born and raised as part of a large Irish Catholic family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married and moved to Montreal, Quebec in 1976 as a young man and raised a family and started a career as a cinematographer there.
In 1997 Larry came to Vancouver to shoot a TV series and decided to stay.
In May of 2010, Larry’s wife, the fabulous and amazing actress, Babz Chula, lost her long battle with cancer. A couple of weeks before dying she offered her prediction that, “You’ll probably go become a monk.” And so, it was a few months later that the ‘Lord came a callin’. Larry was more surprised than anyone that becoming a priest was not just a possibility but, in fact, was the Lord’s will.
He was ordained to the priesthood on December 3, 2015 and has served God’s people at St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Coquitlam and is presently the Assistant Pastor at St. Anthony’s Parish, West Vancouver. He is the Chaplain for Pro-Life in the Archdiocese as well as the Chaplain for 40 Days for Life, VanSpec and Marriage Encounter.
Father Larry still keeps his hand in the art of communication by filmmaking and has recently released a one-hour documentary called In the Spirit of Reconciliation.
He can say that he is extremely humbled that the Lord would choose him as an instrument to serve his people in whatever way the Lord is calling him.
