The Art of Community in Mental Health

How do we find hope and healing in relationship? Discover the vital role of community in mental health through Lisa’s journey to wellness and Stephen’s experience as a counselor. With both personal and professional reflections on how community is an art to creatively foster, the gifts of presence, love and kindness come to light. For we are hardwired for connection and are not meant to live alone.

Speakers: Lisa Rumpel and Stephen Ching

Lisa Rumpel a.k.a “The Resilient Catholic” is a writer and a monthly columnist in the BC Catholic.  Lisa works as an Administrative Assistant for the CISVA at the Archdiocese of Vancouver. As a Mental Health Advocate, Lisa is passionate about spreading hope and ending stigma.  Lisa has recently shared her story of finding hope and healing with a mental illness in a short film for the Sanctuary Course available at: https://www.sanctuarymentalhealth.org/. Lisa enjoys running, dancing and playing ukulele. Whether she’s in a coffee shop writing, rocking out on the ukulele or running along the seawall, you can find her @resilientlisa on Instagram

Stephen Ching received his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Trinity Western University and has a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the Seminary of Christ the King. He a registered clinical counsellor and is presently serving at Holy Cross Regional High School and with Cornerstone Counselling Group In his spare time, plays guitar and enjoys hiking.
