Diocese of Kumbakonam, India
Dear parishioners of Vancouver,
I thank you for your invaluable help through mission appeal at Immaculate Conception Parish, Vancouver and Holy Cross Parish, Burnaby. Your full financial support was used to build a new chapel of St. Antony of Padua in the mission at Thingalur in the parish of Thiruvaiyaru. The dimensions of the church are 68 ft. Long, 26 ft. Wide and 13 ft. High, with a huge concrete cross 25 ft. High, in the front portion of the church.
There are 128 Catholic families in the mission who will benefit from this new church. They are very, very poor and had no way of building a new church for the past 25 years. Their old chapel was in a dilapidated condition, hazardous to any worshipper who walks into the chapel. Hence, your help is a great boon and a blessing from heaven.
Bishop Antonisamy Francis, the clergy and the Catholic faithful of the diocese of Kumbakonam are deeply indebted to you and offer our prayerful gratitude to you for this invaluable spiritual and pastoral help. The Catholics of Thingalur mission will pray for you in this new church, which is a lasting memorial of your missionary out-reach project in this remote mission, ushering great hope and faith in the lives of these poor Catholics.
With deep gratitude,
Rev. M.S. Selva Raj, Mission Director
