Archbishop Miller addresses restrictions during Christmas

On Monday, Dec. 7, B.C. extended public health restrictions into the new year, including the ban on religious gatherings. Archbishop Miller of Vancouver sits down to discuss how Christmas celebrations will look different this year, as well as the Church's stance on vaccines.

“I had hoped, sincerely hoped, that we would not all be tried once again in body and spirit by such a severe second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The restrictions placed on banning congregations, even limited ones, from attending Holy Mass are, of course, a matter of grave concern to us both as Catholics and as citizens of British Columbia.”

Suspension of Holy Mass Celebrated in Public

November 19, 2020

“After today’s Provincial Health Order from Dr. Bonnie Henry, and with considerable sadness, I must direct that all Masses, whether Sunday or weekday, beginning on Friday, November 20 and until further notice, are to be offered without a public congregation. This directive likewise applies to other liturgical services as well as to social activities and gatherings held in church facilities. The new order from the Ministry states: “In-person religious gatherings and worship services are suspended under the order. For example: Do not attend a church, synagogue or mosque service.”
