Impetus for a New Pro-Life Strategy

In the past much good has been done by the Catholics of our Archdiocese, working as part of or in conjunction with the various pro-life organizations. But our love of Christ impels us to move boldly ahead in doing much more.

In his 1992 Pastoral Statement on Pro-Life Sunday, Archbishop Adam Exner posed the question, “What stand would our Lord Jesus take if he were here today?”

Have our efforts been enough? Do they reflect a united commitment flowing from our faith?

“Each individual must answer this question himself or herself—if not now, then when we meet the Lord in judgment. But for the Church I answer: The Lord Jesus would call us to do more. He would call us to a courage and commitment we have not, as a Church, shown sufficiently thus far.”
