As the Year of Mercy comes to a close, join us for a special celebration on Sunday, Nov. 13. The Archdiocese of Vancouver will formally close the Holy Door at Holy Rosary Cathedral and conclude the Year of Mercy with a special Mass celebrated by Archbishop Miller on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2:30 p.m. This will be a joyous occasion as dioceses of the world will also close their holy doors. Those known for their service in the Archdiocese of Vancouver will also be recognized on this day as they receive special honours from the Holy Father during an award ceremony.
In Pope Francis’ document for the Year of Mercy, he writes, “Mercy is the very foundation of the Church’s life. All of her pastoral activity should be caught up in the tenderness she makes present to believers; nothing in her preaching and in her witness to the world can be lacking in mercy.” Although this Jubilee Year is coming to an end, this does not mean that our focus on mercy should end. We are called to be people of mercy at all times by living out the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy in our daily lives. Come mark the end of this Jubilee Year with us. rcav.org/year-of-mercy
