CAH Pub Event: Slaves to the Screen: Do Digital Devices Doom Us?
The Archdiocese of Vancouver invites all young adults, especially the 25 – 39 years of age, to the Fall Catholic After Hours pub events! Join us at the exclusive upper room at Mahony and Sons – Stamps Landing, which overlooks scenic False Creek. Invite your friends for dinner, connect with new people, and listen to a great presentation from dynamic Catholic leaders. All the topics are carefully chosen with the view from a Catholic perspective in a young person’s life.
Slaves to the Screen: Do Digital Devices Doom Us?
For anyone born since 1995, that person’s formative teenage years were shaped by the smartphone. According to the latest research, anyone who subjects their brains to the constant digital stimulation of the Internet is exposed to a higher risk for depression and unhappiness (unlike previous generations, who didn’t check their phones one hundred times a day). Are smartphone users really miserable slaves with no hope of escape? What strategies for liberation are still available if living without your phone is unimaginable?
